hello again i will soon be having points taking of my driving licence for speeding in the past i know i was in the wrong doing 33mph in 30mph zone so how do go about taking the points off as i done my time . ive been on dvla website not very clear on the fee as i ve a photo licence and what i have to sent :A thanks

If you apply to get the points removed from your license there is a fee to be paid (£19 i seem to remember) however if you are moving house and need your photo license updating there is no cost for this service, the new license will not have any points on it.

Cheapest way would be to apply to have the address changed on your current license to a family or friends address and then once that has come through apply again to have the address changed back to your current address.

It's a bit long winded but will save you a few quid

Do you really need to get the points removed???? I have always wondered about this. I have got points from 1997 which are on the license but dont bother me.

When you insure a car, they only ask for convictions in the past 5 years so any previous convictions wouldnt even matter.
