I now this is nothing in comparisson to loosing someone so close and so young as you 160, but I lost my Grandad just after Christmas year before last, my Gran 6 months later and the following month my Nan went down with Alzheimers really fast (brought on by the shock of loosing my Grandad) She has no idea who I am now
Last Christmas was our first Christmas without them all. It was a sad day, we laughed about funny things they used to do at Christmas at all tried not to cry. It was a Christmas tradition that my Grandad did the Christmas pudding so we don't have one anymore (have Christmas pud ice-cream instead :P).
I was told that once you have the anniversary of the death of the person you love things get a teeny tiny bit easier and you know what? It's true. It doesn't happen overnight but you suddenly realise life can go on and although you never stop thinking of them and loving them things aren't so bad. I'm almost looking forward to Christmas this year ;D
I'll be thinking of you :-* ((((BIG HUGS))))When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -
well hubby died new years eve, so last christmas was roughest ever. so this one has to be at least a slight improvement.
mt gran always made xmas pudding, so we were going to go without, but my daughter wants to take up making them for the family, so i have decided to let her, as i think its nice she wants to take that on. (ice cream one sounds soooo good though).
thanks for all your kid thoughts,
love

I forgot to mention that if anyone is using material and twisting and tying with cord then if you use pinking scissors then you do not have to sew a hem.

Just realised my post was right after experience of loss. I lost my mum just 5 weeks before Christmas and the first Christmas was sad even though as my children were very young we were all trying not to show it.
My sympathy and best wishes to anyone in this position - it does eventually get less painful and you can remember the good times, funny memories etc.

Don't know if this will help 160 but we always go to midnight mass on Christmas Eve and there is a moment during the service when the vicar suggests we all take a moment to remember those who are not with us any more. Many people (inculding myself) get a bit teary but in a kind of happy-remembering-the-good-times way. I'm not religious and don't usually attend church, but I do find it helps to have a special time & place to think of the grandparents I have lost & miss so much, especially as they were always with us over Chritmas. I'm not saying I don't think of them over the next few days, I do often, but always in a positive way, I think being in church & having a special moment for just them helps. We always raise a glass to "lost but not forgotton" at Christmas lunch too.
If you didn't want to go to church you could perhaps assign a special time to take a minute or two, maybe when you first switch the tree lights on or after the queens speech or whatever works for you & yours.
I think I'll be thinking of you too during that Christmas mass now & hoping that you're OKPost Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

I haven't got any more ideas than those already posted, but I just wanted to say that I hope you and your family do have a good a Christmas as you can. I'm sure I won't be the only one of us MSE's who will think of you on Xmas Day - I feel like I have made so many friends since I found this site (hope that doesn't sound too mushy)
*Big Hugs*
