Car Service in France ?

Options
Has anyone made savings by getting their car serviced in France?
I need to get a new cam belt fitted to my Renault Laguna soon and I am being quoted over £ 400 , most of it being labour costs.

This is a good example of so called 'Rip Off Britain'. Lots of people seem to save by including the car service, with a booze n fag cruise (not that, thats really Moneysaving!!)

With French cars, it's possibly more sensible, than another brand. Also standard service work, is pretty much eurowide, in the requirements - it'd only be a problem if you were looking for a repair of something that required 'fault finding' & maybe a few dealer visits, to sort it!

Ask on https://www.honestjohn.co.uk clik The Backroom - Discussion, it's been discussed there, before.

a few years ago, the labour rate at a certain French main dealer was about £23 an hour, compared to £72 here, possibly £90 here now - and the parts are cheaper.

In the summer we done a day trip to Calais. We visited the Opel dealership(opp
Mcdonalds) and very close to the Hypermarket.
I was surprised to see on the board the servicing prices for a Zafira and the brakes were not far short of the Kent dealership prices.Expect a 15% saving.
Furthermore there was no one able to speak English there the day we went.
This is an example just for a Vauxhall-Opel Dealer.
I realise that a car magazine done a survey in the summer quoting 23% saving. This also maybe the case for other models.
