On 25 June I ordered two laptops online from Dell and was given an expected delivery date of 9 July. I was led to believe that my credit card would not be charged until a delivery date was given. On 16 July I contacted them and said that if they could not give a certain delivery date then I would cancel the order. I was then given a new expected delivery date of 31 July and then discovered that they had charged my credit card on 16 July. When I contacted them they said that it is an automated process 15 days from the date of order. Numbers don't add-up. I have now been given a new delivery date of 1 Sept as their product is so successful they have run out of stock. I have emailed them to say this is not acceptable and do they expect me to make payment to my credit card before receipt of goods!! I now have to spend time calling my credit card company re this payment. A great way to help their cashflow. As has already been mentioned by others, their Customer Service is a joke. Be very wary. As a final point one of the laptops I ordered is on sale at my local Tesco Store

Well according to Dell's frequently asked questions (taken from the dell web site):
QI’ve placed my order. What happens next?
AOnce your order has been confirmed, it will be taken through our 5 step process:
1. Order Processing
We have received your order and are processing your payment.
2. Pre-Production
Your payment has been cleared and your estimated delivery date is shown.
3. Production
Your order is complete and is now being tested.
4. Delivery Preparation
Your order is being packaged for delivery.
5. Dispatched
Your order has been signed over to the delivery company for shipment.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Yes but that doesn't say how long it will take.
Personally, ordering a computer in June and being told a September delivery is pretty unacceptable.
I had a similar problem when I ordered my Dell. It stayed in Order Processing for 3 weeks!0 -
Bouveriecm,
sorry to hear of your misfortune.
On the other hand my wife ordered one of their made to order laptops on a Saturday morning, told of 10 working days for delivery. She got one of those automated services on the Sunday informing her that delivery would be Wednesday(3 working days) and did she want am or pm delivery. She selected pm and the s*ds delivered am, luckily I was in
Good luck for when you receive your order
Bill
ps she is chuffed to bits with it.0 -
Dells customer services are the worst I've ever encountered!
They do not even have a complaints dept, I've recently written a complaint and sent it recorded delivery, they haven't even bothered to reply to it.
i'm now pursuing them via trading standards, if you want my advice cancel your order and ask for immediate refund, you really don't want to buy a laptop from dell.0 -

Agree with this. They tend to be very elusive when dealing with complaints. I can't even find out their corporate details.
Anyone else got an idea?0
