Southern Electric provide my gas and electic and when I rang them to enquire about capped rates they informed that they dont offer capped rates! Has anyone else come across this?
I really like them as a company and their service is excellent and when you ring them you've got none of that press 1 for this, 2 for that or are holding for hours, its like rininging your mum, it rings for a bit and they answer and whoever you speak to can help you.
Not sure what to do, do I go elsewhere who can cap? or do I take a gamble and stay where I am?
They couldnt tell me if their prices were to rise so basically it would be a waiting game. Would I be a fool to stay and do nothing? We pay £20 per mth on gas and £22 per mth on electric.

I also was told this by Southern Electric. I am also not sure what to do, I am not really in situation to be able to change as due to an admin mistake by another company saying they were our provider (we live in Forces MQ's) it took ages to get it sorted and find out who our actual provider was, by the time we managed to get it sorted we owed 6 months of electric and gas and playing catch up.~ What's for you, won't go past you! ~0

I have a similar issue. I am with Atlantic whom i believe are part of the same group. I like them as a company too - i dont get a sales pitch everytime i ring up! Still, i dont think they do capping. I spend far more on electric - about £60 a month (have a dehumidifier i use alot and a dryer) and i dont know what to do either.0

Well they used to - I'm on a Southern Electric capped rate till the end of Nov. Capping now with EON would give me a 80% increase. I'm going to wait and see what things are like later this year on the grounds that the GasCos won't be capping rates substantially below what they expect them to be.
Feel free to note this and refer me back to it in when I'm duely chastened in December/January time0 -
I'm also on the Southern Electric Price Fix 2008 NSC online. It expires on November 30th which is a worry but as I'll be approx £350 a year at least worse off by capping now I am also considering taking the risk of waiting but don't know if I'm doing the right thing!0

I'm with Atlantic and I, too, called them this morning. I'm sticking with them and keeping my fingers firmly crossed! Per month - Gas £35, Elec £66.0

SSE group ( Southern Electric,SWALEC,Scottish Hydro,Atlantic & Ebico) do not currently have a fixed or capped tariff in place so that`s why there is not 1 to offer at the moment. That`s not to say one may be offered in the future you`ll just have keep eye out. They are one of the few companies still watchin the markets as they always tend to be last or one of the last to increase prices. The last price increases happened between 4 weeks of Jan/Feb SSE held off for another 7 weeks.
The only fixed rate tariff in place is a Tracker Tariff all this does is if the price goes up it will remain 2% lower it is NOT a Fixed Rate Tariff0
