I may have to renovate a flat I am looking to buy. On one of the renovation programs the lady talked about places which buy white goods, oven, etc in bulk. Saying that it would be cheapest to buy from these outlets. Does anyone know of any of these, or any other place where you can buy discontinued lines, or cheaper places for good quality goods.

Not heard of that one - seems to be such a low margin, in these products, you can do just as good, searching on the net.
Or buy the SLIGHTLY dented display models in Comet.Currys etc - just don't buy a customers return - at least thers a good chance it'll only be cosmetic damage & not a busted item!!

I think it's a worthwhile exercise.
What I did is I came up with a list of exactly what I wanted, make, model etc. by visiting a couple of showrooms and subscribing to Which? online for a trial period. I must warn you that Which? is a bit of a waste of time for these two reasons:
1. It only assesses a fraction of the marketplace
2. Most of the reports are out of date and newer models have replaced older ones
It's best to go to one of the large warehouse operators and get some good opinion and comparison going.
So, in my case, I was completely re-doing the kitchen and utility area and needed a fridge freezer, two ovens, hobs, extractor, dishwasher and washing machine.
I got a list of exactly what I wanted, and sent it off to four different suppliers - one 'offline' (local dealer), one 'off and online' (buyers and sellers) and two online (electricshop and biasco).
I generally found that there wasn't much discounting on offer on each of the models, however the cumulative discount, plus the combined order, meant that the price difference between top and bottom was the order of £800 altogether (although I must point out that I was going for some premium kit)! And, with appliances, you get the same stuff - so there's no concern about quality (and all now come with at least a years' warranty).
So, Biasco 'won' although Electricshop were prepared to match them... and I got them all delivered to my address when I needed them.
Don't bother with Comet, Currys etc. for these reasons:
1. They base price on each other, therefore all prices are still high, just some are higher than others
2. They often discount discontinued ranges ('the old stuff')
3. They are never cheaper (in my experience) and are never prepared to offer discounts beyond the price that you see on the kit (no margin for negotiation)CarQuake / Ergo Digital0
