What great service! Saw the original post last Thursday, filled in the form online and the card arrived 2 days later on Saturday. A gov dept which really works.0

I've also recently found that you can get free replacement medical cards from either your local health authority or through your doctor's surgery. http://www.direct.gov.uk/Hl1/Help/YourQuestions/YourQuestionsArticles/fs/en?CONTENT_ID=10015151&chk=AGg376 Mine's got pretty tatty since '72. And talking of replacements, NI number cards are also free from the tax office and or social security office http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/nic/ynino.htm#8 on a one time only basis though (if lost or stolen) too, but sadly in both cases there's no online forms at present.
