The cheapest Hd player and Tv (also possible blue ray?)

Options
Hello and welcome!

I am looking to purchase a HD tv. I am not too fussed about the size really as iv'e ben used to watching movies on my 14 inch tv for many years!

I had noticed that the hd dvds are now clearenced priced in most places,I also know why too but still it seems a cheaper option to blu ray at moment.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent hd tv and hd player? possibly blu ray if the price was right! Cheers!

u see in my opinion buying a cheap tv (you have plenty of options) and being interested in blu ray just dont go together...

    and yes avoid HDDVD

the size will depend how far away you are from the tv when watching it as it will look really really bad if you are close.
The orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.

HD-DVD is a false economy since it lost the format war. The titles are very cheap, but in my view it's not worth investing in a player when you're going to have to upgrade to a BluRay one in future (but I bought a SACD player, so what do I know!). I guess it might be worth it as a stopgap solution, but it'll cost you more in the long run.

....and you have just made me remember why I prefered getting blu ray in the first instance! I did compare the two when they first came out and I did prefer blu ray. I think ive just gotten swayed by the price of some of the Hd dvds out there....very cheap indeed!

Its just daunting looking at say a blu ray player (as an avid gamer too) id be more inclinded to get a PS3.....add to that a decent full hd tv it adds up to alot!

hmmm maybe ill put this on hold for a while!

Just to point out Blu Ray is digital. As is DVD. And CD. :p

A PS3 would be a great buy, especially if you're into games.

You don't have to get it at the same time as a new TV though. You could get yourself a PS3 now, and be enjoying it while saving up for your HDTV.

If you have an up to date desktop or laptop with HDMI or DVI output then you could buy an internal LG internal Blu-ray/HD-DVD player for around £70. If you only have a laptop with this then you'll need a caddy for it so it'll be a little more.
