Day trip to Barcelona from Salou? HELP!

Hi, was wondering if any of you could help me out.

I'm goin on holiday at the end of August with my boyfriend for the first time to Salou. However, we're very keen to go on a day trip to Barcelona, but I was wondering if it would be better to try and go ourselves, rather than book through a rep, as I don't like the thought of our time being restricted to potter about the city as we please.

Does any one know of any trains/local buses etc that we could use as an alternative? The only thing that's making me want to book with the rep is the possibility of us getting very lost if we go alone lol :P

Fro Salou you can get a bus trip direct to Barcelona, think it cost 29 euros last year. We didn't go ourselves but other people in our hotel said it was so easy to do.

Aim to get there as soon as poss and buy a one day hop-on hop-off tour bus ticket for 20 euros, thus enabling you to see as many sites as possible in your day. You can buy on the bus or at a Tourist Office. You will also get a guide of the two routes and where they overlap. ( A word of warning - watch your bags and wallets! And have lots of loose change for all the beggars!)

i stayed in lloret last year i got a bus to blanes than train to barcelona took about a hour, i di think of hiring a car and driving than thought when i get there where am i goin to park

i went to baracelona i never saw any beggars

Great place to visit but it does have more then its fair share of Beggars,Pickpockets,and Scam Artists. So be alert and try not to look like a tourist.

we just caught the bus, I can't remeber the price but it was cheap, less than10 euros each

There's a regular train service between Salou and Barcelona which takes half an hour, although I don't know the cost. Don't go on a Monday as many museums/galleries will be closed.

Is it pretty central? This would be very ideal. Do you know if the service is regular? Also the train mentioned would be perfect

Hi

I went to Salou earlier on in the year, and the bus service there was excellent. The public transport buses actually take you on the trips, (set days to different places) so it's all set prices that are shown in the time table. Went on the bus a few times, from and to the airport, a market and thetheme park. You can buy your tickets on the bus or from the little kiosks that are dotted along the routes the bus takes. The additional bonus is there's always someone there that speaks english, incase you need to check your getting on the right one!!!.
