Very noisey aquarium air pump

I have just purchaesd an Elite 802 air pump kit and am really dissapointed with it. It aerates the water very well (in fact maybe too well) but the problem is that it is very loud, so much so that I have had to turn it off completly.
One of it features is that it is supposed to be quiet with a noise dampening pump cover and base plate to prevent vibration but even when I wrapped it in a tea towel it is still unbearably noisey.
I am planning to take this kit back to where I bought it from unless I can quiten it down somehow, does anyone know how I could do this?
Or maybe someone could recommend a pump for a small aquarium?
Many thanks
Sarah
