Car servicing

Today I called my franchised dealer for a price on a service. £162 was the reply. Using the manufacturers web site I located the next closest dealer to me and called them. The same service was £128. The extra travelling obviously offsets any saving, in this case about 32 miles, but it is still worthwhile to save £34. Apparantly the difference is all down to labour charges as any parts are a set price.

And if you used an independent garage - you could save even more, as their labour rates would be cheaper than a stealership.

Due to recent EU laws you can use independent garages to service your car and keep the manufacturers warranty valid if your car is still young enough to be under warranty.
The independent garage must use OEM (original equipment manufacture) parts and the correct materials and procedures.

Hi - I've just been quoted some horrible amount for a CAM belt change from a Renault main dealer and am looking for alternatives. Can you let me know where I can find out a bit more about the mobile service service (!).
    Thanks
