Hiya,
just wondering if anyone can help with what is I am sure an old chestnut and must surely be on a FAQ somewhere, if only I could find it.
major high street store clothing. They price all items with an individal lable with a preprinted barcode, various ref numbers and price.
in their sale, new reduced prices are always marked on the labels in red biro. sometimes there will be a red biro price crossed out with a lower one in red biro again.
saw some items on saturday. there was a small rail of several variants. one rail had one new price in red biro. other rail had a different new price in biro. probably around 7 of each item
didn't splash out. but kept thinking they were nice, maybe I should of. hope they will still have them !
so went in yesterday, spent a long time in shop. brought items to till. when the items were scaned, came up at the preprinted price. discussion with assistant who suggested "somebody" wrote the new price on the label. I damn well didn't like the way they said it. showed them the rail with all the others.
called supervisor. various transparent excuses. basically just couldn't be bothered, even to make some discretionary concession
left the store empty handed and pretty p'eed off.
was wondering whether there was anything I could do about it.
should have I paid full price and then complained ?

If the price is wrong on the item they don't have to sell it to you at that price, although many stores have a policy of doing so as a goodwill gesture.
Whether the store does or does not sell to you at the incorrect price, they have fallen foul of the Price Marking Order 2004, so you could report them to Trading Standards.0 -
Thank you very much Altarf. I will investigate the Price Marking Order 2004 !0
