Congestion Charge Zone? What the ....
I was driving around the Congestion Charge Zone today all day and I know that I havent gone in to the cc zone.
For some reason there is that fear that, if have gone in to the cc zone the fee will just keep going up and up.
I decided to ring them up just to confirm I havent driven inside cc zone so I can sleep well tonight.
Guest what I was told?
They said there is no way to find out
Ha, the fees could just go up every day without you knowing about it.
Surely they should come up with a way of being able to do that !!!

There is a way to find out, you pay attention and if you pass this sign, you have to pay...
Surely whilst driving, you paid attention to what was going on around you and what information the signs told you about the road you drove on?
As you enter, theres even big Red Circles with a white C in them0 -

Great idea that, but why can we not have the option to check online [or phone]?
All the plate numbers are on the system anyway.0 -
Ok so once you've
a. Not noticed you drove past a large sign.
b. Not noticed you drove over the Congestion Charge Logo.
c. Forgotten to call to check if you drove into the zone.
Where does it end? Would you like a letter to tell you that you've entered the zone.
Perhaps Boris could pop round for a cuppa to discuss the times during the month you entered the zone with an invoice for you.0 -

Don't be like that. The fact that TfL don't offer the service I suspect has less to do with general intelligence levels of the population and more to do with the fact that not only would it cost money, but they wouldn't be able to fine as many people as they do. There are people driving to London who may not even know that the CC exists, let alone know what to look out for.
It's not paarticularly clear to an outsider what it is, how much it is or even how to pay for it.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

OP, there is a map of the zone which can zoom in on, so if you know where you went, you should have a pretty good idea of whether you entered the zone or not.

There are lots of signs around the edge so it's often confusing when you're circumnavigating the edge as to whether you've driven in or not, which I find to be more of an issue than just not noticing the signs. There are so many it's hard to concentrate on all of them and not killing people that just walk out into the road!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I agree. It is just not right, TFL have the data and I can't see a valid reason why the public can not access it. There are also those who are unsure of the precise time they entered the zone.0 -
I reckon the real reason there is no facility to check is because the cameras aren't going to catch everyone as the ANPR system is not 100% accurate
If you could check online, many people would check to see if it got them today and only pay if it did.0 -
Why resurect a two year old thread? If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I think it is probably to do with Data Protection eg someone's wife might ring up and discover their husband had driven in the congestion charge zone to see his mistress when the wife had been told he was working in Scotland.
I drive commercial vehicles and they are all subscribed to TFL so if we do drive into the zone it is automatically debited from the company credit card so they must have a way of checking...0
