Help with changing company name..

Hiya, I was wondering if anyone knows if the Companies House change the company number as well if I change the company name? I have sent the company's house form for changing name last week and I need to make new stationeries (letterhead etc) to reflex the changes but wonder if I need to wait for the new certificate to see if they will change the company number or can I use the old company's number instead?

Anyone has experience with this before?

Hi echinacea,

They shouldn't do. I'm a corporate researcher and I use co numbers all the time to trace old companies. The Companies House website (see webcheck section) also has a section on previous names and you can see if you select a couple of companies on that part at random that the numbers haven't changed. Call their helpline if it will help you put your mind at rest.

Company number stays the same. But previous names will be shown in their accessible records.

Agree with the above, but it might be worth waiting to confirm that Companies House accept the new name before you change your stationery. Occassionally they do reject the chosen name.
