Hi - does anyone know if Duraphat has any equivelant under another name - especially in the American market? I really object to paying £7.10 for a tube and if I can get it from the states I will but cannot find what it would be.0

I'd imagine it's probably this (for the 5000 strength, I can't see a 2800 version):
http://www.colgate.com/app/Colgate/US/OC/Products/FromTheDentist/PrevidentPrescription.cvsp
(unsurprisingly though it looks like it's only available on prescription in the US too)
Can you not ask your dentist to give you several tubes on a single prescription?Stompa0 -

Drs and dentists can get into trouble if they prescribe too many items on an NHS prescription, so don't take it personally if they refuse.
You can buy Duraphat direct from the dentist, but it's still pretty expensive (About the same as the prescription cost). How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

Fair enough, I was only making the suggestion because my dentist gave me 3 tubes on a single prescription.Stompa0 -

I was rather hoping he would do so every time!
One further thought, whilst normal toothpaste comes in a box containing a single tube, Duraphat comes in box containing three tubes, which made me wonder if that was a 'standard' dispensing pack?Stompa0 -
I haven't heard of that!
The tubes I sell are just regular single tubes. Not seen a '3 pack' in the brochure! How to find a dentist.
