"Nationwide's contractual commitment to Comic Relief to provide the Nationwide Comic Relief card will come to an end on 28 August 2008"
I had a look at their website and the only alternative is Classic or Gold card. I'll keep one CC from NW because it's good for commission-free purchases abroad.
I thought there would be a thread on this. I quite liked using this distinctive looking red card. I think it's time to get a second card (hopefully cashback or with some incentives) I was hoping NW still did a cashback card but it doesn't look like it :x
Any thoughts?

There is an article about cards with cashback on this site. Look under the "Shopping Spending" page. Amex Platinum, Barclaycard and Egg Money seem to be good options.
I have a Comic Relief card and I must say that I'm really disappointed in Nationwide that they are stopping this as it was a simple way to help out a good cause. I liked the red card as wel!
Like you, I'lll probably stick with a NW card for the commission free use abroad and also the ability to register electrical goods for an extra year warrenty - but I may look around for a second card. Does anyone know of other cards than donate a small percentage to good causes? (yes I know I could make the donations myself with a cashback card but I doubt that I'd be organised enough to do that)0 -
Its not Nationwide thats stopping it i don't, the contract with Comic Relief has come to an end according to a mail out i got. 2008 not 2009 btw!
As for what they're offering now, they're transferring all the customers onto the Classic cards. Cash Reward cards weren't offered as a new product for ages I don't think.0 -
I'm sad to see my Comic Relief card go. I used it for all my work related expenses - a way of getting work to give to charity! From the Comic Relief website it seems they are wanting to encourage regular giving instead of the Credit card.
As for alternative Charity Credit Cards, the Co-operative Bank offer a whole range of charity cards. The downside is the length of time from statement to payment is shorter than for most cards, but think of the help to the charity!0 -
Has anyone received their new card from Nationwide yet?0

I wouldn't worry your Comic Relief card is valid till the first week of October. I was told my new card would be with me by the latest 5th September and if it hasn't to call them and inform Nationwide.0
