Luggage Insurance

Options
Does anyone know of a firm that will insure my luggage on a trip to USA. It is Samsonite Black Label and the collection is quite expensive. Most insurances gonly go up to £300 for individual items I need sosmething of about £500?

    Hi there

    The easiest answer is "home insurance".

    Provided you have home insurance and have taken out their "away from home" cover (sometimes called Personal Possessions or Valuables cover) then they are probably providing you with more cover than the travel insurer would anyway; most travel insurers will only provide Indemnity insurance (they make a deduction for wear and tear) where as your home insurance will be Reinstatement (new for old).

    Also, there is an ABI agreement that states if you have cover under home and travel insurance for the same things, then one company can ask the other to contribute towards the loss. If you have cover under 2 policies, all you are doing is paying for the same thing twice.
