Payment Protection?

I paid off my Halifax visa card in full and haven't used it in almost 12 months. Last month I received a statement stating I owe £24 payment protection. I have no intention of using the card again so have no wish to pay this charge. I intend to call them regarding this but wondered if anyone had a similar experience?

Is this the "Card Care" on your account?
If so it is a policy that you either asked for on your application form or agreed to at some stage. Give them a call and cancel it if you don't want it.

When did you pay off your Halifax account in full? If it was just the month before, then what you're seeing is the payment protection catching up - it's a month behind, and would be based on your last balance figure. It doesn't matter one jot whether you're going to be using the card again, what matters is that you balance was being protected while you had a balance, and now it's time to pay it.
Your argument against paying the £24 is somewhat like having your house rewired and then refusing to pay the electrician at the end of it all.0
