job offer! but want me to go self employed?

  • Just to say it is simply to save them the hassle of setting themselves up properly as employers and bothering to do tax and NI for you. Personally I wouldn't do it as a main job. I've done small bits and bots as self-employed one offs but working full time self-emplyed for someone else is a chore you can avoid.

I used to work as a job club assistant at a university and I have to say that the employers who only wanted to take people on, on a self employed basis, were usually the ones that went out of business quickly or never paid employees. I'm not saying this is the case here, but you need to be wary of these kinds of jobs. We stopped accepting self employed jobs in the end.
