I have a spaniel who is 2 and 7 months old. She has just had/having her first season. Has anyone ever heard of a dog having its first season so late?
I thought she was never going to have one.

Is it possible she had one earlier and you just didn't notice? Not likely to happen if yours bleeds anything like ours did, but both of my parents' girls were very light.
[EDIT: Sorry, meant to say all 3 !!!!!es were labs. Not that that matters much - 2 1/2 years is, I believe, well over the standard period for any breed.]0 -
My next door neighbour didn't think her dog had ever had a season up to the age of 4. She only knew she had when she starting giving birth (the dog that is).....
Have her spayed and you need never worry about it again.0 -
I cant of missed one. Her flower is huge and what a mess she makes. Yes I am going to have her spayed. Vet says wait a couple of months.0

Dog lives outside. Was got at by the dog who lives at the other side of me, who also lives outside (and has inseminated a large proportion of the local population). Thought she was getting a bit fat......You hear of this happening to teenage girls, I suppose.
That's what happens when you live in a rural village!0 -
Out of interest, how does the owner of Cassanova react? I'd have thought that all but the most arrogant would have had him fixed by now, but maybe it's different out in the boonies

You've obviously met him!
The dog is now chained up overnight. The last straw was that he got one of the KC reg labs up the road pregnant. Actually, the pups turned out really nice and they had no problem finding homes for them - but not for £700 a piece!
Amazingly, my dustbin stays upright now as well....
My next door neighbour has decided to use him as a "stud" dog for another litter next year. I give up!0
