Paying off credit cards with a deal???

Hi, Has anyone ever made an offer to pay a credit card of in full but not actually pay the full amount? e.g credit card balance is £3300 but offer a lump sum of £1500 to wipe the whole account balance off??

    I'm sure lots of people have tried it but unless you are about to go bankrupt I suspect that the CC company will probably tell you where to go. If you've spent it, it's reasonable for them to expect you to pay it back.
