Hi
Project Gutenberg - http://www.gutenberg.org/ - have a very large
selection of books that are now out of copyright.
Free - but the occasional donation is a good idea if you make heavy use of it.
cheers

The problem with Project Gutenburg is that most of the books are really old or really broing. I know they only get books that have no copyrigths, but I havnt seen one recent book on there."People fear what they don't understand and hate what they can't conquer"0

you have to pay for quite a lot of these books0

That's because generally authors want money from their work, so they don't release it under a low restriction license.
Anyway, why not take it on yourself to read some of the old stuff - just because it's old doesn't mean it's not good. And a lot of the stuff there is certainly not boring!

Thank you:T0 -
The Gutenberg texts are all plain text files of out of copyright works. As said above, lots of good stuff including quite a lot of P G Wodehouse, H G Wells, Arthur Connan-Doyle etc. If you want the books in other formats, try:

As far as I can tell they're all Gutenberg texts, but converted into a variety of PDA friendly formats. Most smartphones can display ebooks as well with the correct software, and the compressed formats from this site will allow you to cram more into your pocket than plain ASCII.I am not a financial advisor or other expert. enjoyDon’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -
I'd love to listen to these ebooks on my mp3 player. Does anyone know where I can get some free software to convert these text files into mp3 files?0
