I recently purchased an item from a television shopping channel; when the contacted me for delivery and card details i was asked if i wanted to join a big savers club for a months free trial; the only cost would be £1.99 for P+P of the catalogue; at least twice i said no. 3 days later (today) i have checked my online banking and they have taken the £1.99! I phoned the big savers club who gave me a cancellation number but told me i would have to contact the shopping channel company for a refund. I phone the shopping channel company who at first tried to tell me that i was told of the charge; when they finally understood i had said i didnt want the offer and they recorded the calls they could hear i never accepted the offer the have basically stolen my money. They told me i had to chase it through the savers club; even though they had transferred me to the shopping channel! Is there a way i can comlain to an authority over this; it is a small amount but they have no right to take money i have specifically told them they couldnt. Any advice on how i can sort this out? And to contact the shopping channel is nation rate and i was on the phone for 15 mins!

Yes i only authorised payment for the item purchased from the shopping channel and the p+p for that item; when i was asked if i wanted to join the savers club i declined.0

If it is a Visa debit card then just call your card provider, and ask them to do a chargeback. It should not be a problem xGone ... or have I?0

Thanks unfortunatley its a maestro card payment; its not so much the money they have taken; but the fact that they surely shouldnt be able to take money from an account without any comeback; surely this is illegal? Most people probably wouldnt query £1.99 leaving their account.0
