Electricity Economy 10 prices
I've just moved house and have an AMPTEC heating system that runs on an economy10 electricity meter.
I may be being slow, but I'm finding it tricky to find the cheapest electricity provider. Many providers don't support economy 10 and when they do the sales advisors are unsure of the product.
Any ideas and advice? Thanks!

If you search this forum you will find another post that lists which suppliers offer a 10hr E7 tariff.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Be sure Econ 10 is right for you. I changed from Econ 7 when I started working from home and was cold in the middle of the afternoon. Now I get a boost of heat and water heating in the afternoon.
I haven't yet found a comparison site which covers Econ10 tariffs, so I've had to do it the hard way, no cash back bonuses and a bit of time on the phone. Also don't expect to find capped rates for Econ10 - they seem only to be available for dual fuel.
Use saynoto845 to get some 0800 numbers.
If the sales staff don't know about Econ10 then be wary about the company. Customer services is often better than the sales teams in knowing what they have available, in my experience.
First up, prices vary according to where you live so everything follows from your post code. ( I wonder if this means fuel is controlled by a cartel and is that illegal?)
Second to avoid wasting time make it clear that you are Econ 10 - it saves your time hunting.
Get the rates exclusive of VAT to allow you to compare directly to a recent bill,
and be sure to ask if there are any other benefits such as discount for a direct debit or a free month back at the end of the year.
Ask again if that's the best they can do.
I've put off changing because I knew it would be pain.
My savings are going to be small,as I don't use a lot of fuel, but I 've got 10% across the rates + an extra 6% for direct debit in switching from E.on to Southern Electricity today, equivalent to about £90 for the year.
Every little helps!0
