hi everyone i have a bit of problem with the co op...

i hyad appliedfew days after my bankruptcy . i called them on the 19 th to apply for a new bank account with them they say i will have to call them on the following wednesday to see if i will be ok to open a new bank account. so on wednesday evening ( last week) i rang them up, they told me no problem we will open a new bank account for you. you will receive everything through the post including your card. they thold me i no need to fill an application from as i had already a bank account with them.


today i received a letter from them saying they are unable to open a cashminder no explanation nothing i rang them up again they told me that they cant say anything over the phone as they can;t access the system ?!?!

i feel after goign through all this .. to tell me no thank u we won't open nothing for u

do u know what should i do ...?

Seems a little strange they dont give an explination....if the system is down maybe you could try ringing later? or at least ask when they think the system will be back online?

One more you could try for a basic account is barclays bank

yes they are a creditor on my bankrutpcy this is why i got reffered at first o see if i could get a new cashminder account then they told me yes then they refused again ...

Shouldnt matter...many members here have had the co-op as a creditor and been able to open a cashminder account without probs

i did aplied with barclays waiting for they replied this was applied straight away after my bankruptcy order do hopefully i should now this week .

the woman on the phoen would not sday anything she just told me to complain in writing but i though that was odd to be refused while they coukld told me that last wednesday weird weird ... now panicking as i wonder where could get mey wages and WTC to be paid into ?

Hi

If you can ring tax credits 0845 300 3900 they will send you a giro whilst you sort out a new account. I am doing this now but you have to do it at least 3 days before payment due or they will pay it into the account you would normally have received payments.

As for child benefit I phoned them and have had payments frozen until I get my new account details and they will backdate it. i have opened a co op account but waiting for all the details to come through. Hoping it comes through soon though cos we are totally skint.
