Stag Party in Stirling - Self-Catering Accommodation Needed

Options
Hi All,

Not sure if this is the best board to post this, so administrators please feel free to move this if necessary.

I'm getting married to the greatest girl ever :blushing: in November, but I am needing some help with organising my stag party.

A few of my mates and I studied at university in Stirling, so we thought it would be great to head back there for the stag party and visit a couple of the old haunts/dives. The plan at the moment is to try and find a self-catering house/cottage/lodges for up to 16 people for the Friday and Saturday, so that we can stay in the Stirling area (within a taxi-ride of the city centre) but also have some space to ourselves and so as not to disturb and annoy the locals.

Only problem is that it is very difficult to find any self-catering accommodation in the area for parties greater than 8-10 people, so I was wondering if anyone could help with any suggestions?

Looking to do this the weekend of the 31st October, and budget isn't too much of an issue (within reason) as starting to get desperate now!!!

In addition, it would be ideal to have somewhere with a largish lounge or kitchen area, as we plan or hiring some casino-type games for earlier in the evening, although this is not essential.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I wasn't sure whether or not to post this as you won't be able to do this in October but decided to anyway.

I went to a large hen weekend in Stirling a few years ago and we rented out halls/flats from the university. Now I know this is of no use for the end of October but if you are really stuck maybe having an early stag weekend is the answer

    all the best

Edit: congratulations on your forthcoming marriage
  • Thanks for the reply Glitzkiss.

We had actually considered this as the chalets on the campus are great, but as you say October isn't the best time for this.

The date is fairly infelxible as the hen weekend is booked for this weekend too, and as a lot of our friends are in couples, with the girls going to the hen weekend and the guys to the stag, it is a lot easier for us to have the parties on the same weekend.

Great suggestion though and may seriously consider this if I still can't find anywhere else.

Ok, this is a real thinking outside of the box suggestion. There is a thread in the MSE arms about a meet-up in Stirling. Perhaps someone on there may be able to suggest somewere. There's bound to be a few more locals on there

Second the uni! I had relatives over from the states last year and they stayed in the chalets on campus and loved it. Really good bus service into town, taxis not too ridiculous, and BofA for breakfast!

But you want to go in October... what about here

I drive past them a lot, look nice, had to google to find what they were called. Just past the Pirnhall roundabout on the road to Denny. I'll see if I can think of some more.

edit: found this one. On an unclassified road (we call it the Fintry road - not sure if it does end up there or not) Not too far out of town - maybe take you 10 minutes from the city centre in a taxi.

(Or if the price is right I'll move out and you can have my house :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: or maybe not!)
  • theres a small village outside stirling called Fallin. On the way to Fallin theres a caravan site which is pretty reasonable in price. I'll try and find the name out of it - i think its wallaces ????
  • found it -

    Wallace View Caravan Park

Its aboput a 5 min bus journey (if that) into stirling. If you know where the retail park is - not the thistle but on the way out of stirling - its got morrisons etc on the retail park and theres a holiday inn and a hungry horse - Its 2 mins from there

This is going to offend anyone from Fallin....

My daughter was seeing someone in Throsk and was giving me directions to pick her up. She said drive into Fallin and there's a 30 mile an hour slow down sign. Don't. They'll steal your hub caps.... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
