laptop stuff in a desktop

Simple question can you take things like a laptop memory and harddrive and connect them up to a desktop to upgrade it.

also can you get an enclosure for a laptop cd/dvd drive so that it can be a seperate usb device.

  • memory: no
Hard drive: Yes with an additional 2.5 to 3.5 inch converter. Although I wouldnt recommend it as hard drives are dirt cheap and laptop hard drives are slow compared to desktop equivilents.

enclosure: yes it is possible to patch something together, but again why bother as they're very slow and desktop drives are cheap as chips.

Cheap way of making a laptop harddisk portable. Self powered, fits in pocket.

You can get various enclosure for cd and dvds starting around £25. Not sure that it would work with laptop cd/dvd.

A decent branded external dvd burner starts at around £50 External cd ones about £30 upwards.

Not convinced that the memory would work...best bet try the scanner on both pcs on Crucial if they match it may work... crucial Memory is cheap at the moment...about £60-£70 for 1gb
