unknown direct debit payments

I have been going through my halifax bank statements and have noticed that for 5 months starting june 2004 there has been payments through direct debit which i cannot account for. When looking at my statement it says 'E Card'. Any idea who they are? How do i approach halifax in finding who this establishment is? I believe every company have their own identifier code for direct debit. i have this code how can i find who the company is.

Just tell the Halifax you want it investigating.

It will be covered by their obligations under the Direct Debit Guarantee.

If you're still not happy after their response, ask them for a copy of the mandate you signed.

There may not be a mandate in Halifax's possession (d/d's can now be set up over the phone and the company may retain the mandate) If that applies here, Halifax should tell you the name address and contact details of the company.

Important thing is talk to the Halifax now!
