I heard this and my stomach literally dropped this morning. I heard the entirety of the interview, and as ever the governments stance is "this is something we are considering only". Vince cable to his credit is about the only acceptable voice on the economy in UK government ( small g) on the housing market at the moment. the fact that he is in the party least likely to take power is disaapointing- as he will be reported as fringe politicians often are as a weirdo "and this is why they are so unelectable" type comments.
That's it. I'm sticking my neck out and saying I'm voting Lib Dem from here on in. Vince Cable has proven to me time and again during interviews over the past 12 months that he has the measure of the situation. The man has not yet said a single thing that I don't agree with and while he is not the leader of his party yet (nothing against Nick Clegg but he's not said much about anything), there's only one man in politics that I've currently got any faith in.

For me, voting has always been akin to being presented with a list of methods of execution and being asked which you'd prefer to be k!lled by: hanging, lethal injection, electric chair, death by a million paper cuts, etc.

Finally somebody who might actually be able to do some good. Not that anyone will listen, but at least someone is saying what needs to be said.

I know. There is no way I can vote for the conservatives, there is just something way too murky about them. I wouldnt trust any of them to run a budget for a hospital either, if you thought that labour are in bed with housebuilders and banks, dont let the tories in

You really think any political party will be able to afford to keep the NHS going in the current form? :rotfl:

Assuming there isn't total social disorder and meltdown, the very least I'm expecting is abrupt and severe cutbacks for the NHS, whole categories of medical procedures will have their spending budget eliminated... (I was in a ward full of women with an itchy skin condition last year... and admittedly they were suffering with their ailment... constant scratching as they came over to speak with me as I visited a friend, but I would have sent them all home) and definitely for fancy expensive treatments which do not extend life expectancy in proportion to their cost.

NHS will harden their attitude to drug addiction, alcoholism, and life-style choice illnesses.

that's the thing about minority parties like the lib dems though

they can actually say sensible things because they know they aren't going to get into power, and have to spend 4-5 years pandering to vested interest groups destroying their ideals
    It's a health benefit ...

To those who think a Conservative Government is going to be the knight on the white charger I say one thing - they weren't last time.

I think the Thatcher govt. did sort out a lot of things that needed sorting.

I hope you are not being serious...;)

She was without any doubt the very worst PM this country has ever had to endure.

She started the " dog eat dog " syndrome that blackens this country to this day, and is still at the grass roots of most of it's problems.

I am being serious - the end of the 70s saw the UK as a laughing stock of a basket case. That got sorted.
