John Howe's mesmerizing fantasy artwork is admired the world over. Known primarily for his illustrations for the Tolkien books, he was a conceptual artist on The Lord of the Rings movies with fellow Tolkien illustrator Alan Lee.
John's first practical exploration of his inspirations and techniques is published in John Howe: Fantasy Art Workshop, with a foreword by Terry Gilliam and an afterword by Alan Lee. His second art techniques book will be John Howe: Forging Dragons, which publishes in October 2008. The book will showcase the entire collection of his breathtaking dragon art, created over his 30-year career, and has a foreword by acclaimed Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro.
Anyone who wishes they could paint like John will be able to learn a fantastic amount from these books.
To celebrate the man, his books and his art, we are offering the chance to win a one-off pencil drawing that John has especially created as a Waterstones.com exclusive prize. He will personalise and sign it for the winner if they wish.
The images displayed showcase John's style of illustration, they are not the prize on offer.
Good Luck
