I'm looking for info on how to get from malaga city to the port in tarifa . I have never been to tarifa before. I usually travel from algeciras when going over to morocco, but it is very busy in august and tarifa isn't so busy -apparently!
Is it best to travel by train or bus? thanks in advance

I do not know of any direct link between Malaga and Tariffa. If you know how to get to Algeciras then go there and get the bus from Algeciras to Tariffa. http://www.gotarifa.com/en/arrival/bus_schedule.html .The last website says that there is a direct bus and has more infoSomething Really Interesting0

I've done the journey in reverse and there was a free bus from Tarifa to Algeciras ferry terminal and bus and railway stations. This was 18 months ago so possibly no longer happens. Otherwise take the bus in the post above. As far as I know there is no railway service to Tarifa. You can go by train from Malaga to Algeciras but the journey is much slower than taking the bus along the coast road. The train goes inland up into the mountains and you have to change once - much more scenic than the bus
Ferries are less frequent but the journey time is slightly shorter.
Tarifa is a pretty little town and the amazing numbers of wind turbines on the road to Algeciras is a sight to behold.0 -
Algeciras is a sight to behold.
you can say that again:rotfl: I hate the place.
Thank you martindow and brodev for the info:T
I think I will take the bus to algeciras then take the free bus to tarifa -if it's still running. My usual route is marbella - algeciras, but I have decided to stay in malaga for a few nights (for a change) this time as opposed to marbella.0 -
I liked Malaga a lot. I went there with low expectations but it's a nice town.
Don't know if you need accommodation but I can recommend this place

Despite its name it is a hotel, very central and handy for buses. No 19 (I think) goes to the bus station, railway station and airport (1Euro fare)0 -

I love malaga too! It's not nearly as touristy as people think. I used to go every year for the feria. It's brill:D
Thanks for the link. I've already booked a hotel. We're staying at the malaga centro hotel. It's a 4* Hope it's nice!0
