ON 'how clean is your house' kim and aggie reccommend filling a spray bottle with vodka and adding a few drops of essential oil to it and spray on fabrics to stop them smelling.
Bicarbinate of soda (rub in, leave then hoover off) is also supposed to be good at neutralising smells.0 -
Lemongrass essential oil is lovely, you could put it in a burner or dilute with alc or water and spray it around. Another plus is that flies don't like it...I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I buy a lot of febreze but it does cost £/4 a time is there is a cheaper way say making your own? i used to use ironing water in a spray bottle but the smell didn't last as long
thanks0 -
Have you tried the supermarket own brands? I know it's not OS or making your own, but I personally prefer Sainsburys one to Febreze ... smells like violets!I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum
Cos how can you be gloomy, when the sun shines out your bum?0 -
What do you spray it on? The only things I would think to spray on in my house would be couches ( but we have leather) and beds but I find fresh clean linen does the job there. We have no pets or smokers so have no need for it?0

Yep it sounds abit that way, sorry
Do I assume you use Fabreeze in between washing the bedding anyway.
I surpose you could use it on sofa's as you can't very well wash those, although I don't. No pets or smokers either.
What I would suggest (which isn't very helpful from someone who dosn't use the stuff - admittedly) is try not using any for two weeks and see if you notice anything.
I tried this with fabric softener and kitchen roll about 10 years ago, never bought either since.0 -

I don't think that there's any "maybe" about it! What is the intended purpose of all this spraying stuff about all the time? Do you fear that your things smell bad or do you just like the scent?
You could make your own by mixing water and vodka 50/50 and then adding a few drops of scented or essential oils to it in a spray bottle. It could save you an absolute fortune0 -
