Utility Warehouse Gas/Elec/Phone/Broadband

Options
I currently get free calls with Utility warehouse because I take 4 services from them (gas, elec, phone and broadband). Now, I know that the gas and elec prices will go up with everyone else's but my question is will I be better off changing to separate suppliers).

Because I use my phone for work (between 700 and 1100 calls per month) I am worried that any savings I might make by capping my gas and elec, or switching to another provider will be eaten up by having to pay for my phone calls.

Is anyone else in this position?

Thanks

Shabby

The so called "free" calls come at a big price if you have to take 4 services from them! Those 4 services won't be the cheapest! And you have to pay their monthly membership fee as well.

You can get inclusive call packages from other telephone companies with no strings.

eg BT will give you free calls 24/7 for £5.95/month on top of the £10.50 monthly line rental.

If you took BT,s 24/7 geographical call package £5.95p a month as a benchmark , ( Their are cheaper and dearer suppliers) . Then the added value to you is about £71 a year.. However a lot of other suppliers would not entertain such a large number of calls.

I also think the real answer depends on UW's new gas and electricity prices.

£11.75 if you want a paper bill, of course. Plus a 12 month tie-in.

From what I can see UW charge £9.99 per month line rental plus £1.76 per month subscription fee for being a member of the 'club' so effectively the same cost per month as BT, with a paper bill.

You are "conveniently" forgetting that UW have some unpalatable strings attached (ie he has to take 3 more services from them - which won't be the cheapest!)
  • Thank you all who have answered.. so I guess what you are saying is, that I can get the same sort of deal on my calls elsewhere (at a small cost) and that I should really just be comparing whether I could get cheaper broadband, gas and elec elsewhere?

Absolutely. Like I have said before, I don't use UW for anything but I just don't 'get' the real animosity from certain posters on here when they are nowhere near the worst supplier of utilities - and certainly not the dearest. JUst look at the criticism most of the big suppliers get on here and put it all into perspective. I would imagine that there are many people on here who would claim to be on the cheapest gas/electric tarriff...and I would also imagine if you asked them what it was, they wouldn't all be with the same company! Horses for course, depending on usage etc.

The gas and electric is with a triple value guarantee which means you will be paying less than the top 6 suppliers
    Cheaper than their standard tariffs.
We all know that DD is cheaper, and online cheaper still.
Will UW guarentee to beat Click5 (coming up as cheapest for me if I switched) or my current tariff (BG's Price protection 2010)?

There's no strings attached ,,they don't lock you in a contract you can give 30 days notice and that's the end of it .......I take it Quentin you know everything about the utility warehouse ....to me you don't know nothing

Wow, so you have to give Utility warehouse more notice than the big six then? Thats hardly a selling point as all the other suppliers just need 28 days notice (with the exception of Utilita where its a 12 month contract.

If you are going to act the know it all then at least know some things.

Still, I like all the double negatives
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
