What do you intend to do with it?Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

Indeed, it wholly depends on what to do with it. If its just for basic web browsing and portability, then one of the Asus EEE PCs will do you fine. If you want to game, you don't really want a laptop. Video Editing, most ones with a Core 2 processor should cope pretty well, though you'll want a pretty large hard drive.
Dell would probably be a good starting point for seeing what you can get for your money.0 -
Cheap and decent dont usually go in the same sentance:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Its for everyday usage so doing work on MS office , web browsing , watching dvd or videos ( i think you get the idea ).
400 to 500 should be able to get you a half decent laptop. The only times you should be paying more than 600 pounds is if its a branded cool brand like Sony VIAO or Mac even then your getting ripped off if you fall for one of these brands.0 -
I got my sony vaio laptop for play two months ago. Its an NR21 model and at the time i bought it is was being advertised in currys for £600. on play it was £500 but i found a 5% discount (quite frequently get them on play) and then used topcashback for a bit more discount. In the end i got it for £434 and then bought my software from the student software website - dont need to be a student to get a good bargain!!
Its got a 2gb memory and i would recommend this model.£4000 a year challenge member
