Or....you could get one of the kids to hang around the checkout and ask someone who is going to buy something if they could buy it off them, then hotfoot it too Lidl/Asda etc to spend ;) this has happened to me in woolies, but as they didn't have what I wanted I wasn't able to oblige.
That's almost what I was going to suggest! Do you have a friend or family member who shops at M&S anyway, who might buy it from you at face value? I know I would if somebody asked me to (I don't buy groceries there regularly, but what with sale clothing, multipacks of knickers and the occasional bottle of wine, I certainly spend over £10 in a single transaction in M&S occasionally!)

M&S often have good 3 for 2s coming up to christmas for small toys etc - you might manage to pick up 3 small presents for around the £10. If it's food you're thinking of, their quiches go on special every now and again and I think they're worth buying when on offer...

Thanks everyone for suggestions. I had thought of food but you've all made me see it's better to hang onto it for presents. Do they have sales any other time apart from Christmas?

Yes seaxwyn, there is a sale on now...well on ladies stuff. not sure about the childrens range, but uniform was on 3 for 2 and I do find that their school blouses last well.

And, a bit back on the food, they had the offer of 2 for £4 on the Italian stuff...lasagnes etc. But there was also the offer of 1/3 off ready meals.
So, my 2 Chicken Arrabiata  usually £2.99 each was firstly reduced to £4 but then the other offer kicked in and knocked £1 off each, so I ended up paying £2 for 2 :rotfl:
My freezer is well and truly stocked.
So, maybe hang on to it and keep an eye out for offers.

Alas you've just missed one although there was some sale stock still instore when I last was in. It might work for you if you're a size 8 or a size 20 but if you're in between you probably don't have much chance :)

If you keep an eye on the shop but don't drop board it's always posted ahead of time..

I'd probably keep it until I needed underwear - still reckon M&S are hard to beat there!
