Skycard paypal cash advance fee

I've just been stung for a £2.99 cash advance fee using paypal. The transaction was with ladbrokes (£25)

Now I would never use a credit card to withdraw cash or to fund any gambling transactions but in this case as it was via paypal I thought I would be in the clear.

Do skycard assume all paypal transactions as cash advances or is this a one off pitfall to avoid

They can tell what the transaction is. That is how RBS charge you the cash advance fee if you buy a gift voucher in a shop, as opposed to buying goods.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?
  • Ladbrokes = gambling = cash advance fee. No way round that, I'm afraid. Also, you're accruing interest on that sum of £25 on a daily basis, right up til the day you pay it off.

Paypal differentiates between ebay items, goods and services and cash

Cash items are reported to your card provider as such and they charged you the £2.99 :(
