Virgin connection keeps breaking

My connection keeps breaking, usually when the phone goes.
My PC is located approx 15 feet from the incoming phone box, and the phone itself is by the computer. I have an ordinary phone extension running from the box to the PC area, then a splitter. The filter is then in to the pc side, and the other side to the phone.
If I put a filter either at the 'box' end, or between the splitter and the phone, then the modem will not connect at all.
I have tried running an RJ45? cable from the incoming box to the PC, and this does improve the set up, but, and this is a BIG BUT, I want to move the PC a further 15 feet away, and am told that the RJ45 cables will lose any signal over that distance.
Do I have to go expensive and buy a wireless router and card, if so, any help please would be appreciated...I havent got a clue about these.

Have you put a filter onto the phoneline?
I assume your running broadband and if that is the case you need to ensure all phones have filters on them

Thanks so far guys.
Firstly, I don't think it is Virgin, but I find I cannot get their email 'problem' set up to work either!
As to filters, yes, there is one on the splitter by the PC, going to the phone, but the only other extension I have is a 2nd DEC phone, but you cannot put a filter on the 'radio waves'!
Cheers anyway....keep trying!O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us.

From reading your post, the master DECT phone is beside the computer and is connected via an ADSL filter to the extension back to the master socket.
DECT phones are known to be problematic with poor quality ADSL filters.
Borrow a standard phone and test with it to check it's the DECT phone thats causing the dropped connection.

Thanks, Irnbru.
The filters are those supplied by Virgin, so they are probably cheap and cheerful!O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us.
