I bought this laptop about 7 months ago and it runs on Vista. ( Grrrrr I hate it ) Approx twice a month the screen goes blue with white lines all over it and then re boots it's self. I have no idea what could be wrong. I'm not very technically minded
so any ideas in plain speak
would be greatfully received.
TIA

I had a simiar fault with my inspiron, locked screen and small red lines across the screen, sometimes they were blue. I first went through their online forum and then reported a fault. From reporting to return took about 7days. As the fault was intermittent it took 3 returns and a visit to sort the fault, so I now have new memory, new processor, new motherboard and new screen. I'll give them 10 out 10 for service. I hope you find them the same.

Do that, and assuming it is a BSoD then you'll be able to see the error message. When you get the error, post it here and we can help you more.
If it isn't a bluescreen, it could be a graphics fault and updating your drivers may help. hit the start button and in the search box type in: 'dxdiag' without the apostrophes, and hit enter. This will run the directX diagnostic tool, and you'll see several tabs. Go to the display tab, and look in the top left box. It should show the graphics card manufacturer (In all likelyhood will say Nvidia, ATI or Intel) as well as a model. If you can post this info, we can point you towards the right drivers.0 -

No, just a blue screen with white lines. It then re boots itself and you get the screen stating that windows didn't shut down properly0 -
Thanks for the tip on having a look at the Dell forum peter. Found some great info on there that I hope will solve the problem.
