strange thing with my email

OK, I go into OE, at the bottom right it tells me "receiving mail", then there's the little envelope and 8 new messages (for example), but in my inbox there's only 7.

Just now, there was one message being received, but then nothing new in my inbox.

This has been happening for about three months now. I'm worried that I may be missing some important work-related messages, as I am in constant touch with my staff and my bosses (we all work from home you see).

Help would be much appreciated.

check you've not got a rule setup and and it's diverting messages to another folder.

Try this download and install http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx its the 7th down unless youve got a itanium system..

The go Start, All Programs, Powertoys for Windows, TweakUI, and once
running select, Repair, Drop down to Unread mail the click repair now.

I did all that Mr Skint, thanks. When I click on "repair now" then nothing happens (don't know if it's supposed to), so I click ok, then check email but no unread mail shows.

I am tearing my hair out now....

  • I'm not an expert but it hasn't got anything to do with spam has it?

Have you tried logging on to the interenet account rather than outlook or whatever you use and making sure the spam filter is off?

    Pure guessing this!

Folks, it's great to be part of this forum because there are so many helpful people, expecially you Mr Skint and scheming_gypsy. :A :A :A :A

I have now loaded that software successfully. :T

However, I have just "discovered" my Norton Antispam folder and this has revealed a large number of filtered emails, including Martin's own.
I have now disabled the antispam as I know which email I want to open or not. This is all basic stuff, I know, but I have these strange holes in my PC knowledge.

I think the antispam kicked in when I upgraded my security.

Sorry for wasting everybody's time. :o

By the way Mr Skint, I'm with Wanadoo.

Sorry Mr Skint. Thought your Chinese brother was perhaps feeling a bit left out so I gave him a mention. :o

Well now that I know a bit more about the ways of OE and spam, I expect my next naive question is due in a week or so.
