First post,be kind.
After taking mse advice,i decided to switch my elderly parents electricty supply to a fixed tariff.
They started being supplied by Eon on 26/06/07 previously being with BG,
Their electricity meter was replaced early May 07.
They stared with Eon on a on line tariff (can't remember name) to Electricity online extra saver 5,this tariff can't be beaten on any of the comparison sites.
I was going to be switching parents supply to Eon's capped offer,i was unable to do this on line,so contacted Eon (what fun).this is when i was informed the meter installed in May 07 was a economy 8 meter (1130-0730) and the mistake wasn't noticed untill now.Eon has said it will replace meter FOC.Meter was read by them on the 17th May 08,this could have been when problem was noticed, they also said they would back date any extra payments incured but not to the unbeatable saver 5 level.
Parents were previously on E7 for over 30 years at the same address.
I want someone to blame!
They live in a Hydro Electric area,my parents did'nt request a meter change.
Dose any one know who i should blame?

At the point supply was switched E-On would have been provided with the meter details which includes the switching times (I've omitted all the industry jargon) so at that point they should have know is was set to give 8hrs heating. That said the industry bill code allows them to backdate but only for a maximum of 12 months.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
