Old Broken Laptop

Hi All

Hopefully got the right place

Is there a specific place i can sell my old laptop - its really old now like Windows 98 i think - so a bit anciet?

Just wondered if there was a place kind of like the old mobile phone thing.

funny actually - i put in my old phones on the calculator and 3 of them offered me £1 - haha - hardly worth the stamps!!

Cheers
Paul

yep try ebay - even broken ones sell as people want them for spares

if you're feeling adventurous, you could even sell the laptop parts separately.

often old components sell for more as they are in short supply/they're not made anymore.

After uni I sold my ultra crappy laptop on eBay. It had various problems, and crashed to the point of needing a re-format every few months. Do be honest about everything that's wrong with it but you might be surprised at how much you get for it.

Whether there is a market depends on the availability and cost of spares to repair it. Though you could sell it for spares as you may be lucky and find someone like me in need of spare parts - just be sure to say exactly whats wrong with it!

I've got a laptop in it's case which wont display anything on the screen but the spares i need to repair it are either obsolete or more expensive than buying a new laptop! Incidentally i originally bought mine 2nd hand on ebay for about £600 (was a good deal when i bought it!) around 8 years ago ..shows how prices have fallen!

Just a word of warning, before you dispose or sell your old laptop or PC, use a wipe programme to ensure that everything on your hard drive is deleted. If you just use Windows delete, all your private info (bank accounts etc) is still there waiting to be revived by unscrupulous criminals. If you are not sure take a hammer to the hard drive!
