Ex Husband - I paid off debts for him - need advise

Hi all,
When I was with my ex I added to my mortgage to pay off an MBNA Loan and Credit Card to the tune of £20k. Something I am so seriously regretting!!!!!
I have recieved a letter from his solicitor basically admitting that the loan was his. Can I take him to court for this money as I am paying it for the 24 years to add insult to injury I had to offer him money as he was trying to get half MY house.
I need some advise Please. I am prepared to take him to court if I have too

basically that I was stupid. But I haven't asked her if I can take him to court separately.0
