Have a read of this thread here where FM has asked that a line be drawn under the recent squabbling.

I have to be honest, I only joined today because I thought people might be interested to know about a website I built.

So, I came on and posted a link to the site and the reception it received was incredible, which I admittedly returned with an equally indignant and rude comment which I soon retracted and apologised for.

However, despite my apology, I continued to get some quite nasty messages directed at me. Luckily, I am thick skinned, but I can imagine others aren't. Plus, I got some IM's from the more decent members of the forum who realised it was a) not an advert, just maybe a misplaced link and b) realised that the abuse I was receiving was significantly disproportionate to the comment I had made. But still, some members were, quite frankly, horrible.

If you want people to carry on joining, you're going to have to tell your users to help us when we make mistakes and not jump down our throats just because we post something on the wrong forum thread.

Some people I met today were not nice people. Thankfully, there are some really genuinely nice people on here too ;)

Freezy I'm glad you haven't been put off by your unfortunate first thread, everyone makes mistakes and you really did apologise - I agree that many newbies would have been put off by your experience.
