Hey Guys,
I am looking at booking a two week all inclusive holiday to the Carribean in late September early October. We were initially going to book it in April earlier this year, but I decieded to hold off. Not sure why.
We have 2k to spend, but I want to get as much for that as possible, we have spent a long time saving.
So, I've been checking out the prices with the first Choice website. The wierd thing is that the price changes each time I check (not in a day, but if I come back a few days later). Last week it was the lowest price ever £1750.
Today £1950. I have seen the holiday go up to £2250. I wish I had printed out the cheaper price now, and will print out every price I see. I want to take the cheapest web price into store about four weeks before we want to go and haggle them down by paying the full thing cash on the day.
The thing is, I would rather be haggling from £1750 than £2250, so how do I know when that cheap price will be on the first choice website so that I can print it out?
Why the heck do they vary prices so much, and what is the pattern ?
Cheers!

Supply and demand. I don't think there are really any hard and fast rules.
If they have quite a bit of availability the prices will be keener but as bookings come in the price goes up. Similarly, if bookings tail off then they will reduce the prices again to entice people to book.
I'm not sure taking an out-of date quote into a store will work - surely they will check the price of the holiday on the day you make an enquiry.0 -
It will be a matter of luck and timing. If a certain date was always the cheapest then everyone would wait until then to book. I always book when the price is right for me. Then I stop looking.
I also cannot see what todays prices have to do with booking four weeks out. What you really need to bag a late deal isn't old internet printouts, its flexibility - don't set your heart on one particular island or resort hotel and allow yourselves different departure days.
If you are still dead set on taking these printouts in, what are you going to say? 'Look, it's here for £1750 - match that!' ....because if their system has it at much higher they cannot compete they will tell you to go away and book that one then.....which, of course, you can't and you will look a bit of a muppet. If you see a price you are happy with, print it off and take it in that day ready to book.0 -
Had a similar experience with Thomsons, looked in June for this xmas and returned this week to find the holiday for 2of us had increased by £680 THEY CAN STICK IT0

hi
i noticed this when i sorted out my moms booking for her wedding, it seemed to go up at peak times such as after 5 and at weekends so it is best to book midweek during the day basically.
also play with the room types to see what works out cheapest as i managed to get 4 kids places for free by doing this.

Don't print out a quote and take it in 4 weeks before departure, they could /would / should just laugh in your face. Unless it's recent it means nothing. They will just look online to check.
However, i'd hold off booking Caribbean holidays for a week or so, and see how the market reacts to recent tragic events.0 -

Same thing happened to me last week with Firsy choice, saw a great hol, then looked on sat and it said it was unavailable for that date and then today it is avaialable on that date at £960 as opposed to 785 what it was the other day:eek:Sam B0 -
If first choice have the holiday for 300 less, then they can cut the price by at least that much. Surely knowing how low they can go is important. To be honest, some of the posters seem happier to book at the price they are offered. I will report back with what I get, who knows, maybe knowing how low prices go means nothing.0
