It's a few weeks since I emailed Yougov about Coproducer and I still haven't heard anything.

I will post back if and when I do get some answers. In the meantime I would urge anyone who is interested to either email Yougov at supportuk@yougov (which Coproducer's Stephan Shakespeare is still the CEO of), or contact him via conservativehome.blogs.com which I believe he owns, and still writes for.

I do think it's a bit poor that there is now no communication/information available at all. If it's defunct (which I suspect) we deserve to be told.

I got an email from them yesterday asking how we want to be contacted in the future, I 've copied it below:

    Dear All,

My profound apologies for being 9 months late. No excuses. But now we’re back with a professional screenwriter attached to the project. She has read through all the competition entries and is now starting work on a full treatment of the storyline, incorporating our favourite ideas from your outlines.

The response to our call for outlines was overwhelming and we have been blown away by your combined creativity. After deliberations, we have selected five stand-out entries. These five writers now form our panel of Star Co-Producers who will get involved with the writing process by giving us detailed feedback as the screenplay develops.

    The five Star Co-Producers:

We enjoyed meeting feisty, no-nonsense Kaylen, the sidekick that Marisa Brown created for Ryan.
We really liked Rebecca Lamey’s characterisation of the down-to-earth female bus driver, and how this story forced Ryan to confront some tough realities.
Ennis Murphy’s entry had smart visual touches and drew a sharp portrait of a bored thrillseeker.
We loved Andrew Bebb’s witty, convincing take on the story – another notable entry.
Laura Quigley’s dark and complex tale made us sit up and take notice.

Big thanks to everyone else who submitted an entry - all of them have added to our store of ideas and impressions, all of them contribute to the project going forward.

We want everyone else (and that includes you!) to continue to contribute and be part of the biggest collaborative film project ever attempted. We will be keeping in touch as we embark on writing the screenplay – we’ll need your help and advice along the way!

To get us warmed up again, please take just 2 minutes to do the very short but essential survey (just 2 questions!) at the following link. Thanks.

    Yours,

    Stephan

thank you, olivetti. I have not heard a thing and I was active as long as I could be, that is, wasn't part of the bit where only people he chose took part.
pennychu, I'll email yougov, and if I hear nothing, conservativehome.blogs.com -- thank you

I heard from yougov, this is what they said

(name), Aug 13 10:19 pm (BST):Apologies for the delay in replying to your message. I am advised that co-producer is not a YouGov project and all questions should be directed to stephanshakespeare @ coproducer.net. I hope he is able to answer your queries.

Should you have any further queries, please check our faq section in the first instance as the answers to many queries can be found there.

    Kind regards

coproducer.net is still up so I guess I'll try that

update, no reply from Stephan Shakespeare. I did take part, for some while, so should be listed as a 'co-producer'. A lot of other people will be in the same situation.
  • Hi all

I have been keeping in comms with Stephan for a while now via email and Twitter as it was my idea regarding the hitman that was chosen.
You should have all had some more polls by now?
He had initial scripts run up last year by a group of screenwriters but frankly the results were rubbish and so it is back to the drawing board.
On top of that we he has a new server up and running so sometime soon we should have a new, proper site back.
He is still intending to follow through with the idea but has his hands full with YouGov etc for now

    Fingers crossed....
  • Can anyone say whether Coproducer is still alive and kicking, alive but dormant or just dead?

Yes I got an email from them on 1st Feb. First one in a very long time. I'd lost interest as it doesn't seem a viable approach to me but good luck to those who participate.

    "CoProducer begins shooting in February!

Our experienced screenwriter is currently toiling away on the feature-film script (and is being assisted by our talented and helpful Star-CoProducers!). In the meantime, we are keen for your contribution to casting, and we also want to trial run our production resources. So, in February, shooting commences on a short film which has been developed by our screenwriter as the prologue to the feature, establishing the seriousness of the threat from the assassin hired by the protagonist.

Help make the casting decision here

Please note: for those of you who did not join the CoProducer panel through YouGov, all future surveys will now take place on the YouGov platform but you do NOT need to join YouGov to take part, you simply attach your email address to the survey in the usual way. You will then only ever be contacted for further surveys in this open format.

    Thank you for taking part.

I've just looked at the site. It has sponsored listings only and the domain name is up for sale.
