I got one of these a few years ago - on prescription from my GP. It was in my daughter's name - therefore free of charge. At the time, he said if I needed another one to just ask the receptionist for a repeat prescription. We never did get another - & have been free of nits for quite a while now!

The nitty gritty truelly is the Rolls Royce of nit combs ;). I would defo recommend it.

I read it and thought it is only free if you dont pay a prescription charge, shame that I do though! Could have come in quite handy in the future Im sure - being a primary school teacher Im sure I'm bound to get the little critters at some point in my career!

i've had one and it doesn't work....

I actually spent just over £9 on one of these and I have to disagree strongly with the above quote, these do work and are fantastic, well worth the money spent. My daughter suffered badly with lice on a regular basis and as long as you use the comb properly in the current market you will not find a better product!

Some people expect to use one of these once and oh my cured lol..As the problem with head lice is a continious one in schools all over the country/world this has to be something used regulary. You also have to bear in mind that there are parents out there that o not bother to treat there children at all so the same children are re-infecting your child.

When you first buy/receive one of the fab nitty gritty combs my recomendation would be:

    1) for the first week wash your childs hair daily leaving conditioner in and combing through when still wet (the comb is not very effective on dry hair as the packaging states)

    2) use something like kitchen towel to remove any finds after every stroke of the comb

    3) after every use, use an old toothbrush to remove anything stuck in the very gripping teeth

    4) after the first use, you will notice a difference, after a full weeks use (daily) you will notice a completely clear head.

    5) DO NOT stop using the comb, use once a week (or twice if you are determined) until your child has left school...There is a full guarentee with this product so if somehow it does get damaged then return for a replacement to the address on the packaging.

Nits will always be a problem and will probably only get worse over time but this comb can ensure that it is not a problem in your household...as long as you are not to lazy to keep up the good work.

    Good luck

ps...please do not expect your child/teen to be able to go through their own hair efectavly...this will not work...and please do remember to use this comb on every family member including yourself.
  • i tried to get this 2 years ago and was told they had stopped giving it out on prescription are they allowing us to have them again?

We have a child who ALWAYS has them in our school, i used the comb alot - not just once, i'm not that dense. I have to keep buying the damn shampoo as the comb doesn't pick up the little ones or the eggs - maybe i just had a dud one?
