Advice needed re hard Drive please.

  • I've got as far as the last step on the install, but it says it's going to formatt the partition, I have no idea what it's going to do, does it mean I will lose the stuff I'm trying to save on the hard drive. There is a massive amount of space on the hard drive spare..

    OK, stop right there! Formatting will destroy the data you have on there. I'm not sure what the structure of your disk layout is, but it might be better to find someone nearby who works with computers who can help you, if you're not 100% sure about what you are doing!

    There should be at least two choices: Live CD and Install. You want Live CD.

    I haven't used any of the discs, so you could wait for someone who has prior experience.

  • I've got a usb enclosure, and it came with the right lead, I connected it to my laptop and looked in "my computer", I assume it is the "E drive" thats appeared in there, but when I try and open it, it says "not accessable, error performing in page operation"
    Advice/instructions would be very welcome...
