Help with switching!

This is my first post so please bear with me! I thought I'd done the right thing, read all Martin's articles, waited until he said "go" and switched today to the Scottish Power Capped til August '09 rate. Only then did I notice nestling in the smallprint on the back of my Sainsbury's Energy bill that my currently supplier is already Scottish Power. Arghhh! Does this mean the change won't go through? Can I/should I try and change again to another supplier? Apparently it could take 6 weeks for Scottish Power to action this change and I don't want to be hit by another series of higher rates? Any advise would be gratefully received!

If the change wont go through Scottish Power will know this as soon as they try and register your MPAN (meter point admin number, 13 digits on bill starting with between 10 and 27). I would them them today with an old bill in hand as it has your S number on it, from that they can check who you are currently registered with and therefore if the change of supply will process. If they say you are already with us either (a) try and get them to put you no the capped tariff or (b) look for another supplier.

Thanks so much for the tip Spiro, I'll give them a call today as I have my last bill with me. Fingers crossed it will all go through and my free case of wine is on its way! If it does I'll raise a glass to thank you! If not I'll commence my search for an alternative supplier. Thanks again, I really appreciate your help.:T
