British Gas Question

Sorry, I think I'm being a bit (nice but) dim!
I've been in my home for 18 months, went straight with BG as thought was easier as previous owner was (tut tut!). Anyhow, on my own with two cherubs, prices going up etc, a bit delayed but I'm looking into sorting out my bills.
I noticed although I'm with BG for both Elec and gas, one is 'standard' and the other 'Electric Single Rate'. When I go through energy helpline it says I'd be saving £187 if I go with British Gas 'Click Energy 5', surely would they not have put me on this when I went with them? It would have been a massive saving for me over the 18 months and have I got any comeback on them?
Please be gentle!
Thanks in advance of anyone that can advise me, as it's a wilderness out there!
OR on second thoughts should I go for Scottish Power capped till 09 still saving me just over 30 squid?

Now you have woken up to the fact it surely is time to change, if click energy 5 is the cheapest and you are happy with BG then that is simpler than changing to another company as I am sure they would do it over the phone.
Yo u will not have any redress for the 18 months of higher tariff.
There was that gentle enough?0 -

But the round of price increases have already started, so time is running out, Martin says CAP.
But do not forget that the capped/fixed tariffs will be more expensive than click energy 5 (perhaps even after that rises shortly)0 -
How easy was that! After your great advice then setting out a comparison in paper, talking to the one who should be obeyed (father) I've swapped to Energy 5 online, with a confirmation email sent within seconds. Surely British Gas never used to be this simple!!!!
