Help Pls - require a Laptop for mobile Intrernet access

Hi All, I need a LapTop so that I can access the internet remotley whilst out and about. This is my SOLE requirement.

Can anyone suggest which laptop to buy, what spec, what to consider etc? I really want to spend as little as possible without compromising speed or connection too much.

Also whats the deal with remote interenet access? would i have to set up another broadband account (I am with wanadoo for my home pc). How reliable is the connection etc etc

regards huggins

If you buy a wireless router then you can broadcast your own broadband account around your home (will cost IRO £40).

To get wireless access elsewhere you have two options:

    - go to an area where you can pick up another public connection (there are some stations, McDonalds' etc. with these) - this is free

    - connect through a mobile phone account - this is very expensive, and is done through cards like these: http://www.o2.co.uk/business/productsservices/devices/gprscards/0,,200,00.html

You can use a mobile - connected by irda, bluetooth or USB to a mobile , to get gprs ( same as using a pcmcia card ) not cheap - or even in some cases dial up ( slow)

BT Openzone http://www.btopenzone.com/ is a subscription wifi service
A directory of free and subscription wifi http://www.hotspot-locations.com/modules.php?name=HotSpots&op=listall&ccc=GB

As for the laptop - doesn't need to be that fast for emails and general surfing - get one with the longest battery life.
